

Jimmy passed away leaving behind a legacy of service, dedication, and cherished family memories.
Jimmy grew up locally, attending Liberty School before graduating from Hargrave Military Academy. Seeking to further his education, he went on to attend Gardner-Webb College, laying a strong foundation for his future endeavors.
A proud veteran, Jimmy honorably served his nation in the United States Army. His commitment to service carried over into his civilian life, where he deeply invested in the growth and future of his community by serving on the Town of Liberty’s Planning and Zoning Board.
Jimmy was a dedicated Mason. He took great pride in his brotherhood as a member of the Liberty Lodge #714 A.F. & A.M., living out the values of the fraternity throughout his life.
Jimmy found great joy in the simple pleasures of life. He loved his home, took pride in tending to his yard, and was an avid enthusiast of shooting sporting clays. In his younger days, some of his happiest moments were spent making lasting memories at the beach alongside his beloved family.
He was the son of the late James Floyd Deaton, Jr. and Frances Aiken Deaton.
Surviving is his wife of 55 years, Susan Cooper Deaton.
The family will receive friends for a time of visitation on Wednesday morning, July 1, 2026 from 10:00 unitl 10:30 a.m. at Loflin Funeral Home of Liberty. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, July 1, 2026 at 10:30 a.m. at The Loflin Funeral Home Chapel, 212 W. Swannanoa Avenue, Liberty, NC; burial with military honors provided by The Randolph County Honor Guard will follow at Fairview Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Randolph County Honor Guard, PO Box 1672, Asheboro, NC 27204.
