A funeral service will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Friday, September 11, 2026 at Red Cross Baptist Church, 2957 Monda Road, Climax. There will be a visitation one hour prior to the service in the church sanctuary. Burial will follow the funeral service in the church cemetery with military honors.
Jerry was the son of the late Edward and Virginia Kirkman Allred, and was also preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Patricia Merritt Allred.
He leaves behind his son, Andrew “Andy” Allred and his wife, Susan; daughter, Amy Allred Dillard and her husband, Edwin; grandchildren, Alistair Allred, Jordan Allred, Erin Dillard, Kaden Dillard and Melah Dillard; brother, Mike Allred and his wife, Connie.
Mr. Allred served in the United States Army and had also been employed in retail as an assistant store manager, retiring from Kmart after 30 years of service. He enjoyed farming, cutting wood, and playing golf, and was an avid collector of baseball cards and comic books. He also dedicated his time to young people in the community by coaching basketball at Grays Chapel School for many years. A devoted husband and father who loved his family, he is already dearly missed.
In lieu of flowers, the Allred family has requested that memorial contributions be made to Hospice of Randolph by visiting https://www.hospiceofrandolph.org/donate/.
