He is preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Rita, sister, Sandra and grandson, Joshua.
Jerry dedicated many years of his life to his career, retiring from Newport News Shipbuilding. He was a hardworking and dedicated individual who made significant contributions to his field.
In addition to his professional accomplishments, Jerry had a deep love for his family and enjoyed spending time with them. He is survived by his children, Christopher Douglas Hall and wife Clare, and Jerry Leonard "Lenny" Hall and wife Mary Ellen. He cherished his role as a grandfather to Wesley, Aaron, Matthew, Spencer, Tyler, Alyssa, and Aislee, as well as his great-grandchildren Brody, Xander, Mackai, and Ainslee. Jerry is also survived by his sister, Deene Allen.
Jerry had a passion for sports, particularly baseball. He played baseball throughout his youth, in high school, and even in college at the College of William and Mary. He also had the opportunity to play some minor league baseball. In his later years, he played softball and enjoyed playing it with his sons. Jerry was an avid fisherman and loved spending time on the water. When not fishing, he found joy in the company of his family and friends. He and his son often embarked on motorcycle trips together, exploring new places and creating lasting memories.
Jerry found solace and spiritual guidance at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, where he worshipped.
The family will receive friends for a time of visitation on Saturday, November 11, 2023 from 10:00 until 10:45 a.m. at Loflin Funeral Home, 212 West Swannanoa Avenue, Liberty, NC. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, November 11, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at The Loflin Funeral Home Chapel; burial will follow at Dr. Clyde M. Gilmore Memorial Park in Julian.
Jerry Douglass Hall will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. His kindness, dedication, and zest for life will forever be remembered. May he rest in peace.
