A graveside service will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, September 17, 2021 at Gilmore Memorial Park Cemetery in Julian.
Born in Guilford County on June 24, 1941 to the late Lester Hubert Hedgecock and Rosa Lee Cruthis Hedgecock, Jim was of the Baptist faith. He was an avid fan of racng, from stock car to NASCAR racing and back in the 60’s he himself used to race dirt track. He loved Fords and was a collector of antique cars which he enjoyed restoring. Not only cars but, he was a collector of antiques in general and he had quite the collection. Jim also enjoyed farming, raising cattle, hunting and fishing. He was a welder for Associated Mechanical Contractors until his retirement. In his down time he could not get enough of watching old western movies and western television shows. Jim was loved by many and will be missed by all who knew him. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Shelby Jean Hedgecock Pierce and a brother, Larry H. Hedgecock.
Those left to cherish his memory include his children, Vicky H. “Wink” Garland (Baxter) of Julian, Charles E. “Duncan” Hedgecock (B.J.) of Julian and Chapman Hedgecock (Ashley) of Climax; grandsons, Jesse Perry, Brock Garland, Tyler Hedgecock, and Eric Hedgecock; granddaughter, Kinsley Hedgecock; great-granddaughters, Aubree and Ava Perry; brother, Buddy Ray Hedgecock; sister, Brenda Hedgecock Sells; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other extended family and friends.
