John was an instructor at GTCC and a stockmarket analyst/investor for more than 25 years. He was the owner and manager of May Realty and Investments and was a saleman for JC Penny for over 10 years. He was a lifelong member of Coble's Lutheran Church where he served as a Sunday school teacher and usher for many years.
He was the son of the late John Harrison May and Anthy "Ann" Virginia Scruggs May and was also preceded in death by his brother, Steven Michael May.
John will lie in repose at Loflin Funeral Home, 212 W. Swannanoa Avenue, Liberty, NC on Friday, August 21, 2026 from 1:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, August 22, 2026 at 2:00 p.m. at Coble's Lutheran Church, 5200 Coble Church Road, Julian, NC; burial will follow in the church cemetery.
At John's request, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Coble's Lutheran Church, Cemetery Fund, 5200 Coble Church Road, Julian, NC 27283.
