Mrs. Dunham was born on September 23, 1923 in Gaston County. At an early age, she was a charter member of White Rock Church of the Nazarene and attended there for many years. She graduated from Pleasant Garden High School in 1941. For several years she worked for the Charles Store in Greensboro as a Sales Associate. She later became a homemaker and caregiver for elderly family members. Children have always had a special place in her heart, and she used that love providing childcare, not only to her own grandchildren and a great-grandchild, but to numerous children of working parents in the Pleasant Garden area.
She was very crafty, often making her own cards to send to her grandchildren and making her own costumes to go trick or treating with the grandchildren. Sewing for herself and family members, reading, having a garden, spending time with her family were all things she enjoyed. Holden Beach and Emerald Isle have very special family ties.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert Clayton and Lena Keever Setzer; husband, Edwin (Ed) Dunham; infant twin daughters, Rita and Nita; sisters, Bryte Hobgood and Dorothy Drake and brother, Forrest “Pete” Setzer.
Survivors include son, Gary Dunham (Jody) of Pleasant Garden; daughter, Mary Brantley (Roy) of Climax; sister, Eunice Morgan of Pleasant Garden; grandchildren, Ross Dunham (Gina), Melissa Geesa (Rob), Tina Brantley (Sanni); great-grandchildren, Addison, Quinn and Calvin Dunham; Alana and Hali Geesa; Zaynab and Luqman Danjuma.
