James was the son of the late Robert Cecil Hodgin, Sr. and Rita Bunton Hodgin and was also preceded in death by his brothers, Billy Ray Hodgin and Robert Cecil Hodgin, Jr. Linda was the daughter of the late, Woodrow Dorritty and Strowdie Thompson and was also preceded in death by her sisters, Nancy Banks and Emma Green; and brother, James Dorritty.
They are survived by their son, Ricky Hodgin (Debbie); grandchildren, Jonathan Hodgin, Raven Hodgin, Reva Hodgin and James Hodgin; great-grandchildren, Selena Hodgin and Austin Hilliard, Jr.; James’ brother, Larry Hodgin; James’ sisters, Sheila Frye (Mark), Linda Young (Keith), Peggy Black (Mike), and Nancy Wright; and Linda’s sister, Shirley Hayes.
James worked at Liberty Chair Company and Carolina Furniture in Ramseur for many years. For the last few years of his life, he worked at Kidd’s Drive-In in Liberty and was a longtime friend of Buster Kidd. James enjoyed mowing the yard and watching sports and westerns during his spare time. During his younger years, James enjoyed riding horses, playing softball and pitching horseshoes while listening to the race on the radio.
Linda also worked at Liberty Chair Company for many years along with Hadley-Peoples Manufacturing Company and Ultracraft. She loved visiting Carolina Beach, sitting on the boardwalk and watching people walk by, while eating her Britts donuts. She also loved traveling to South of the Boarder in Hamer, SC. Her favorite pastime was playing bingo and sitting at her window watching the cars go by. James and Linda especially loved spending time with their grandchildren and great grandchildren. Linda enjoyed keeping up with her nieces and nephews on the phone. Her daughter-in-law, Debbie Hodgin, was like a daughter to her; always there for her, day or night. Linda would say today, “I love you very much, Debbie. Take care of our family until we meet again.” Her best time was being able to attend her church, New Day Ministries. Linda and her sister, Shirley, would sit on the back pew “gossiping”. Linda loved her church family and they loved her.
