We first met Lulamae and Thomas in 1993. There was something magical about them for us “ yankees”. They showed us the best of North Carolina. They included us in with their wonderful family and friends. We learned nice ways of living from them. We have a wealth of stories and sayings to continue to share. -Kevan and Cathy Brooks

Lula Mae was such a beautiful light in the mist of darkness. I loved who she was. She had a ready smile and laugh and a bit of mischievousness I will soon not forget that she projected on to all those who were in her presence. While it has been awhile since I have spent time with her I will never forget those times with her and her sister as "special" times. There isn't enough darkness in all the world to put out the light of one little candle, Lula Mae.
