

A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Thursday, December 18, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at Liberty Friends Meeting, 316 N. Greensboro Street, Liberty, where she is a member. The service will be officiated by David Hobson and Reverend Justin Lowe; burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Wednesday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Loflin Funeral Home in Liberty.
Mary was the daughter of the late Roy Newton Hodgin and Elma Etta Davis Hodgin. Mary was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Charlie Edgar Martin; granddaughter, Ashley Elizabeth Lowe; great-grandson, Joshua Hunter Lowe, and sister, Claudine Hodgin Baxter.
Surviving is her daughter, Cindy M. Lowe (Trenten) of Liberty; grandson, Justin H. Lowe (Melissa) of Canton, North Carolina; granddaughter, Caitlin L. Herrington (Matthew) of McLean, Virginia; and one sister, Marie Hodgin Smith of Climax.
Mary was an entrepreneur along with her husband, Charlie, of Martin Appliance Company for 52 years. She was a member of the Liberty Chamber of Commerce, Women’s Auxiliary of American Legion Post 81, she was the first lady ever elected to the Liberty Town Council, received the Republican Woman Award, Hospice Volunteer, Liberty Association of Churches Volunteer and very active in her church.
