

He was a 1955 graduate of Nathanael Greene High School where he was active in all sports. He was employed by Western Auto Supply Company and Mitchell-Dixon Office Supply in Greensboro for many years and retired from Max Clapp, Inc. furniture installation. He was called to active duty with the US Army, February 3, 1959 and was stationed in Germany. He became a member of Mount Pleasant Church Kimesville 75 years ago. Through the years he was very active in various committees and activities embodying his dedication to his church family. Max always persevered with a remarkable array of kindness to others. He was an avid outdoorsman, loved nature, and his hobbies were golfing and fishing. One of Max's favorite sayings was "Everything is going to be all right" and now it is!
The family will receive friends for a time of visitation on Saturday, November 25, 2023 from 1:00 until 2:30 p.m. at Mount Pleasant Church Kimesville. A funeral service will be conducted on Saturday, November 25, 2023 at 3:00 p.m. at Mount Pleasant Church Kimesville, 4400 Alamance Church Road, Liberty, NC with Pastor Keith Edwards and Dr. J. Matthew Pinson officiating; burial will follow in the church cemetery with Military Honors.
He was the son of the late, J Van and Annie June Roberson Clapp and was also preceded in death by his beloved son, Timothy Glenn Clapp.
Max is survived by his high school sweetheart and wife of 64 years, Joanne Coble Clapp; daughter, Denise Bellefeuil-Jenkins (Dave); grandchildren, Courtney Teran, Cameron Bellefeuil, Matthew Clapp (Brooke) and Mark Clapp (Jordan), great-grandchildren, Ava Grace Teran, Jude Teran and Elizabeth Clapp; sister, Vanda Kay Trogdon (Mike); and several nieces and nephews.
