

Peggy Martin Meacham Allen, 89, passed away on October 3, 2026, just 24 days before her 90th birthday. Born on October 27, 1936, to Clark “Biddy” Martin and Justeen Martin, Peggy lived a full and meaningful life.
A lifelong resident of Randolph County, Peggy was a warm and adventurous woman whose remarkable career included working as a private detective before retiring from the Red Cross. She will be remembered for her spirit, creative nature, and devotion to her family.
Peggy enjoyed gardening, cooking, and reading. She found beauty in everyday moments, from the flowers she nurtured in her garden to the meals she lovingly prepared and the stories she enjoyed in her favorite books. Her warmth and creativity also inspired her to share her talents with others by starting Faith Aprons.
Peggy is survived by her three children: Charles Meacham and his wife, Lumi, of Georgia; Terri Hilton and her husband, Ray, of Texas; and Ann Wyrick and her husband, Chet, of North Carolina. Her grandchildren, Laura Hilton McWhorter (Travis), Ryan Wyrick (Janet), Lana Hilton Beck (Daniel), Darin Hilton (Haleigh), Andrew Wyrick (Kasey), and Samantha Wyrick Lutz (Chris), along with her 11 great-grandchildren, brought great joy to her life. She is also survived by her sisters, Shirley Pickard and Dorothy Vestal and her husband, Albert; her brother, Bob Martin; and many beloved nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her brother, Bill Martin, and Pat Hall.
William Blake wrote, “To see a World in a Grain of Sand and a Heaven in a Wild Flower.” Peggy’s strong religious faith was a guiding force throughout her life, providing strength, comfort, and hope. Her family finds peace in knowing she is now resting in God’s loving care.
A graveside celebration of Peggy’s life will be held on Saturday, November 7, 2026 at 1:00 p.m. at Mount Pleasant Baptist Church, 7103 Sandy Creek Church Road, Staley, NC. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her honor to the American Red Cross, Piedmont Triad Chapter, 1501 Yanceyville Street, Greensboro, NC 27415.
Peggy will be remembered with affection by her family and friends, whose lives are richer because of the time they shared with her.
