He was born and raised in Richmond, Virginia until he joined the US Air Force in 1968. In 1970 he met the love of his life, Janice Reynolds in Myrtle Beach, SC. They made their home in Liberty, NC where they raised their children, volunteered countless hours with the Liberty Cub Scout Troop #502 and attended Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church. His career was in the corrugated printing industry, spending most of those years with Mark Trece, Inc. After retirement he enjoyed gardening, going on trips to the beach and being in attendance at his grandchildren's sporting events.
The family will receive friends for a time of visitation on Wednesday evening June 29, 2022 from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Loflin Funeral Home of Liberty. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, June 30, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at First Baptist Church in Liberty; burial will follow at Dr. Clyde M. Gilmore Memorial Park in Julian.
He was the son of the late Robert Gibson and Florence Matthews Wells and was also preceded in death by one sister, Patricia Rickman and one brother, Bobby Wells and his beloved four-legged companion, Nikita.
Ronald is survived by his wife of 52 years, Janice Reynolds Wells; daughters, Jennifer Ladd (Gene), Gena Kahn (Josh), and Catherine Miller (Doug); son, Phillip Wells; grandchildren, David Ladd (April), Michael Ladd (Marley), Jacob Miller, Nick Kahn, Dakota Kahn, Sophia Miller, Willow Kahn; great-grandchildren, Kaleb Ladd, Aiden Ladd, Oliver Monzon, Grace Ladd; sisters, Katherine Walters (Ben); Brenda Gosselin (Andre), June Marie Cimino, and Carolyn Cimino; brothers, Fred Cimino (JoAnn), Michael Cimino (Sheila), and Tony Cimino (Chris).
