Carmela Gentile

Carmela Gentile, 85, passed away peacefully at home on June 16, 2022 from complications resulting from Waldenström's macroglobulinemia.  She was an amazing and loving mother, grandmother and friend to many.  She is survived by her children and their spouses; Sal (Denise), John (Colleen), and Theresa (David) and grandsons, Anthony, Joseph, Robert, and Christopher.Carmela was born on July 24, 1936 in Queens, NY.

She was loved by all that knew her.  She was known as a second mother and grandmother to all of her friends and their children. 

She enjoyed being surrounded by her family and friends, playing card games and the occasional visit to a casino.  At weddings and parties you could always find her on the dance floor.  In years past she also loved to go bowling.

She learned Italian cooking from her mother and enjoyed carrying on the tradition of sharing her delicious cooking with her family especially on Sundays.

Carmela will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

Funeral services will be as follows:

Viewing: Sunday, June 26, 2022 from 3:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. at Horizon Funeral Home, 4650 N. Federal Highway, Lighthouse Point, FL.

Catholic Vigil Service: Sunday, June 26, 2022 at 5:00 p.m. at Horizon Funeral Home, 4650 N. Federal Highway, Lighthouse Point, FL.

Catholic Mass: Monday, June 27, 2022 at 12:00 noon at St. Paul the Apostle Church, 2700 N.E. 36th Street, Lighthouse Point, FL 

In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in Carmela's name to St. Jude's Children's Hospital or the American Cancer Society.
