So many beautiful memories, just like in this photo, crowd my mind and my heart with so much affection and regret. I join in your pain with heartfelt participation.

Words cannot express how much I loved this man and all he did for me.  I will cherish FR and his family every day of my life.  We got to spend time together and he was more a father to me than my own.  I thank his family for sharing him with me and I hope they know if I could be there to support you In would be.  Love you Felipe.  I pray for strength for the survivors and know each of you are in my thoughts.

I remember when we went to italy and Felipe asked us to bring back truffles. Not really knowing to much about them, we carried out his request. When we did return from italy, with the truffles, we didn’t know how much they smelled up our clothes where the truffles were in our luggage. It took many washings to rid our clothes of the smell. (stink).

Every year while I was in college on their roadtrip to South Florida, Tio Felipe and Nina would stop in Tallahassee to have dinner with me. It always made me so happy and I will cherish these memories forever. 💕

I want to express my deepest Condolences to you and your Beautiful Family regarding your Dearest Father and Grandfather, who I had opportunity to meet and talk to about my Native Country - Croatia, precisely - Dalmatia, that he visited many years ago….Your Dad even gave the Maritimes map of that area to my Daughter, that was cherished especially by Dr. Stampalia, my husband….Now both of them can meet again and sail away through celestial oceanic planes together…🇭🇷🙏🏼🇺🇸

We recently found something we wanted to share with you — a copy of the Ellis Island record from when Felipe and his dad arrived in New York from Naples.

It’s a small but powerful reminder of the journey that brought him across the ocean, and of the life he went on to build — a life that, in many ways, made ours possible and connected.

We hope this little document can be a way for us to remember him together — with tenderness, gratitude, and pride.  We hold you all close to our hearts.

I will always remember Felipe‘s warm humor and generosity. I’ll never forget the time he and Arthur came on one of our writing trips and kept us in stitches while finding good places to eat! He was a true gentleman and he will be missed. Love be to his entire family~

Nina , Nico and family,
La Dolce Vita is a term Felipe and I spoke of many times.  We were so blessed to have his company many times while we laughed, spoke Italian and enjoyed vino and cena.  
He never missed a holiday phone call and always reached out for Giada’s birthday.  His beautiful, endearing spirit will always live in our hearts.

Rachel and I are so sad to hear this news.  Despite being neighbors in Utah for some time, we only recently had the privilege of getting to know Felipe.  We are so grateful for the short time we spent hearing about his adventures and exploring his wine cellar while Nina treated us to her legendary Italian food. We were really looking forward to spending more time with him this summer.  We’re so sorry for your loss, he was a remarkable man.

My dear Nina and family: 
Felipe will be so missed by all who  knew him both personally and professionally! As a writer and former FIU graduate like Nina, we  have been friends for many years. I so enjoyed our wonderful times together in Utah, our dinners at Marianne’s house, our book talks and dinners after her  wonderful book talk presentations, to  the day that both Felipe and Nina  came to my house in Ocala where Nina  discussed her book  with my Ocala book club and our wonderful dinner at Marks Steak House,  to all our phone calls over the years  to share their adventures. And they had many! 
Felipe loved life and his family. He  was a great husband and father. His sense of humor made me laugh out loud and I so enjoyed all his stories about his remarkable life adventures in  both I Italy and America. 
I wish I could be there with you  at this time,  but I am  with you all in my prayers and thoughts. My heart is breaking as we all will miss Felipe- his love of life, his  devotion to his family and  friends to all those who knew and loved him. He was also  a remarkable businessman  and a role model showing  through his successes how  people  can attain their  dreams  with hard work,  and the old adage,  to always follow  your passions.  And  he had a passion for life, coupled with good friends, great Italian food cooked by is loving wife, and of course,  a good bottle of wine.
