It is with great sadness that the family of James Von Bampus announces his passing after a brief but courageous battle with cancer, on Monday, July 17, 2017, at the age of 76.
JVB, as his friends knew him, will be lovingly remembered by his wife and best friend of 33 years, Charlene, and his children Laura (Eric), Michael, Debbie (Arron) and Jenny.
He will also be forever remembered and cherished by his five grandchildren, Austin, Corey, Amanda, Evan and Grace.
Jim was predeceased by his brother John Von Bampus.
A native of Chicago, IL, Jim attended Saint Joseph's College in Indiana, graduated with a business degree, and began what would become a long and very successful career in corporate America.
Jim ascended to the positions of Vice President at Ryder System in Miami, President of the Western Division at Greyhound in San Francisco, and ended his career as a Vice President at Butler International in Montvale, NJ.
Jim has been a resident of South Florida for over 45 years, and was well traveled having visited all 50 states and several countries overseas.
Jim was an avid boater and loved nothing more than cruising the inter-coastal waterways with friends and family on his boat, suitably named "Let's Go Honey!"
He was known for his boundless energy and electric personality, which resulted in him lighting up every room he entered.
His passion and approach towards life, his family, his friends and his career set a high bar for others to aspire to.
A Funeral Mass will be offered on Saturday August 5, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. at St. Coleman's Catholic Church, 1200 S. Federal Highway, Pompano Beach, FL 33062. Private burial services will be held at a later date.
