

A resident of Pompano Beach, Florida, Lily will be remembered as a cherished presence in the lives of those who knew her—steady in faith, kind in spirit, and devoted to the people she loved. She attended Mass daily, prayed the Chaplet of Divine Mercy regularly, and gave generously to others. Her life reflected a quiet strength and a gentle heart, offering comfort through simple goodness and enduring care.
Lily is survived by her son, Robert Cardwell, of Pompano Beach, Florida; her daughter, Karen Barry, and husband, Brett Barry, of Boynton Beach, Florida; and her son, Michael Cardwell, and wife, Jennifer Cardwell, of Sunrise, Florida; Son-in-law Brian Youngblood and wife Gilda Youngblood Lily is also survived by her grandchildren, Michael Cardwell, Jennifer Youngblood, and Monica Youngblood.
Lily was preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Olga Kost; her husband, John Gecy; her daughter, Christine Cardwell; and her brothers, Eugene Kost and George Kost (professionally Michael Story).
Visitation will be held on September 9, 2026, from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Horizon Funeral & Cremation Services, 4650 N Federal Highway, Lighthouse Point, FL 33064, US. A Catholic Service of the Word will be held at 7:00 PM with Deacon Jerry McGuinn from St Ambrose.
A Funeral Mass will be held on September 10, 2026, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am at St Elizabeth of Hungary Catholic Church, 3331 NE 10th Terrace, Pompano Beach, FL 33064, FL 33064, US.
Committal will follow on September 10, 2026, from 11:30 am to 12:00 pm at Our Lady Queen of Heaven Cemetery, 1500 S State Rd 7, North Lauderdale, FL 33068, US.
