Maryellen Paradis Lemieux—“Mimi” to all who loved her—peacefully slipped away on November 2nd, surrounded by her family, at the age of 93. Born on August 10, 1932, in Indian Orchard, Massachusetts, she lived a long and love-filled life devoted to her family, her friends, and her faithful dachshunds.
She now joins her beloved parents, Albert and Bernice Paradis, her sisters Ruth Trembley, Naomi Carrier, and Walla Paradis, as well as her cherished son, Michael Lemieux.
Maryellen leaves behind her daughter Michelle and husband Ralph Vartanian, her son Paul Lemieux and wife Lori, and her two grandchildren Brett and wife Jessica Vartanian and Tanya Vartanian. She also leaves behind three adored great-grandchildren—Michael, Mila, and Mason Vartanian—who were the light of her later years.
Mimi was the heart of the family—a little mom and grandma taxi, tirelessly driving her children and grandchildren to gymnastics meets, basketball games, football practices, cheerleading events, and dance recitals. Every trip was fueled by her baked goodies, warm encouragement, and endless love. No victory, big or small, went without one of her famous home-cooked celebrations.
A talented seamstress, Mimi made her children’s clothes and sewed costumes for every dance and holiday performance. She was a tough cookie, fiercely loving, loyal, and full of heart, and of course a little sassy. Her dachshunds—Bubba, still victoriously living out her spirit and spark, proudly carrying around his blanket and presence of a loud bark. Milly, and the famous Agar—all were her pride and joy, and they brought her comfort and laughter every day.
Her family will hold a private celebration of her life. To honor her memory, those who wish may make a donation to the Broward Humane Society in her name.
The family wishes to thank everyone for their kind words, memories, and support during this time.
Rest in peace, Maryellen—Mom, Mimi, friend. You will forever be in our hearts.
