On July 11, 2026, Paul Thomas Summa departed this world to be in the everlasting peace of God's loving arms. He was a longtime resident of Pompano Beach, Florida. A celebration of life will be held Monday, July 20th at Horizon Funeral Home in Lighthouse Point from 5-8PM. Mass will be Tuesday, July 21 at St. Paul the Apostole in Lighthouse Point at Noon. Lunch to follow.
Paul was born July 28, 1964, in Norwalk CT, to John and Madelyn (Pessolano) Summa, the third oldest of 5 brothers. He graduated from Pompano Beach High School in 1982, where he excelled as the varsity soccer goal tender. He earned his degree from Florida Atlantic University in 1989. Following graduation, he began a distinguished career in real estate appraisal. For the last 21 years he has operated his own business, Summa Appraisals.
In 2002, Paul met the love of his life, Suzanne Gower. They shared many interests, especially baseball, football and the Tampa Bay Rays. Anyone who knew Paul recognized the joy and happiness his relationship with Suzanne brought him. On February 2, 2017, during his lunchtime, they were married at the Broward County Courthouse.
Paul was a Renaissance man. His knowledge of history, politics, sports, food, and pop culture were legendary. His favorite activity was conversation and camaraderie with old friends and anyone willing to discuss any, and all things. It should be noted, that his opinions and analysis were always spot on. He loved living in Florida and the outdoors, warm summers, and fishing excursions.
Despite Paul’s hectic schedule, he always took time to help anyone, whether the ask was big or small. He was everyone’s first phone call when difficult times arose. His impact on the lives of those around him was profound, and his absence will be enormous.
Paul and Suzanne were active members of St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Parish in Lighthouse Point. Paul’s faith was strong, and as hard as his passing is, he would want us to know we’ll see him again on the other side and to enjoy our time here.
Paul was preceded in death by his parents; brothers Michael and Steven.
He is survived by his wife Suzanne, and brothers Jim (Coconut Creek, FL) and William (New Bern, NC). He also leaves behind many loving friends and many happy memories.
Memorials can be sent to the Frankie Foundation 4 NE 4th Avenue Pompano Beach, FL 33060
