Born November 16, 1937 in Isabela, Puerto Rico he was the third of three children associated with the marriage of Pablo Rodriguez Rodriguez and Paula Ferrer Arce. Porfirio married Elsie Matias on February 21, 1959 in Aguadilla, Puerto Rico.
Porfirio moved to Chicago with his wife Elsie and their three daughters Vilma, Elsie Ivette and Lizette in 1967. This move was prompted to meet the medical and educational needs of their eldest daughter, Vilma who was born hearing impaired. Porfirio later retired from United Air Lines in 1999 with twenty eight years of service. Post retirement he and his wife Elsie moved to South Florida and lived in Fort Lauderdale.
Porfirio’s wife Elsie preceded him to heaven October 27, 2009. He is survived by his three daughters: Vilma, Elsie and Lizette five granddaughters: Erica, Vanessa, Damari, Stephanie and Raquel, three great granddaughters: Cora, Lailah, and Aaliyah and three great grandsons: Jayden, Kayden and Jacob.
Porfirio was a Chicago Cubs die-hard fan and truly enjoyed seeing them finally win a World Series on November 2, 2016. Porfirio loved God, family and friends. He enjoyed helping and encouraging others. His Ministry was visiting the sick. He leaves his footprints of love and kindnesses in many hearts. His life Signature was his bright smile even until the end of his earthly life.
We the family of Porfirio Rodriguez, graciously acknowledge with sincere appreciation and gratitude, your love, kindness and heart felt prayers shown to us during our time of bereavement. Because of the love of God and through the power of the Holy Spirit, we are able to endure this experience with comforting assurance that God will take care of us. You will always remain in our hearts and prayers.
