Born on July 2, 1958, Bob lived a life filled with passion, purpose, and an extraordinary ability to bring people together. To know Bob was to experience his generosity of spirit, quick wit, kindness, and remarkable enthusiasm for life.
Music was at the heart of Bob's journey. As a co-founder of the Flamingo Freedom Band, which would later become known as the South Florida Pride Ensemble, Bob helped create more than a musical organization. He helped build a welcoming community where individuals could express themselves, celebrate their identities, develop lasting friendships, and find belonging through the universal language of music.

Beyond his musical contributions, Bob had an adventurous spirit and a particular love for cruising. The open seas offered him the opportunity to explore new destinations, share laughter with friends, and create unforgettable memories. Whether enjoying another voyage or gathering with loved ones, Bob understood that life's greatest treasures were the experiences we shared and the people who shared them with us.
Above all, Bob treasured the relationships that enriched his life. His warmth, humor, generosity, and welcoming nature left a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to know him.
Bob is lovingly remembered by his friend Darryl Marksberry; his sister, Virginia "Ginger" Butler; his brother, Paul Turlington; his niece, Linda Butler Smith; his cousin, Phyllis Turlington; and his extended family, cherished friends, fellow musicians, and the many members of the South Florida community whose lives he touched.
While the final notes of Bob's earthly journey have been played, the harmony he created will continue to resonate in the hearts of those who loved him.
His legacy lives on in every rehearsal, every performance, every new friendship formed through music, and every voyage taken with a spirit of adventure.
