Charles O. Davis, Sr., 85, of Lima, died at 6:21 p.m., Saturday, June 22, 2013, at Lima Memorial Health Systems. He was born February 16, 1928, in Salem, W.V., to William E. and Mary L. (Cottrill) Davis who preceded him in death. He had been married to Ruth E. Davis, who died February 11, 2013. His special companion of more than 20 years, Mary Seffernick, whom he loved dearly, survives in Lima.
Charlie retired from the Maintenance Department at Dana. He was a World War II veteran of the United States Navy.
Surviving are 8 children: Charles O. Davis, Jr., Donald W. (Kim) Davis, Sandra K. Spiller, Larry E. Davis, Susan J. (Sam) Crish, Sharon E. “Sherry” Davis, Aaron (Anissa) Davis and Gale A. (Teri) Davis all of Lima; a sister, Zelma Patricia “Patty” House of Baltimore, MD; a brother, Ralph Davis of Lima; grandchildren: Jason Davis, Jenna Twining, John Seidel, Jeremie Seidel, Shane Dotson, Shawn Dotson, Sam Crish, Matthew Tenney, Ashley Moore, Audrey Moore, Taylor Davis, Quinten Vandemark, Marisaa Davis, Alexis Davis, Quinn Davis, Brandon Ward, Alec Ward and Trey Ward; and twenty great-grandchildren.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by the following siblings: Onie Davis, Kenneth Davis, Eugene Davis, Phyllis Ash, William E. Davis, Harold Davis and Eleanore Boop.
Funeral services will begin at11:00 a.m., Friday, June 28, 2013, at Siferd-Orians Funeral Home, with Rev. Ed Rinehart officiating. Burial will follow in Fairmount Cemetery, with military rites by V.F.W. Post 1275.
Visitation will be on Thursday from 2-4, and 6-8 p.m., at the funeral home.
