

Edith Jean Sprague, 90, of Elida, died at 1:55 a.m., Saturday, March 21, 2015, at her residence. She was born Oct. 23, 1924, in Lima, to Cloyd and Hazel Strawbridge Johnson who preceded her in death. On July 3, 1945, she married Herbert L. Sprague who died May 8, 1994.
Mrs. Sprague was a certified floral designer and employed at Brunner’s News Agency for 47 years. She was a 1942 graduate of Scott High School, Toledo, and a member of Southside Christian Church. She was a member of the F.O.E. Aerie #370 Auxiliary since 1960 and served many chairs. She loved to sew, crochet and knit.
Surviving are two children: Barbara Fisher and David Sprague: five grandchildren: Cindy (Jason) Reynolds, Susan Cartagena, Stephanie (Mike) Watkins, Shane Sprague and Stacie Sprague; twelve great-grandchildren: Jessica Fisher, Jessica Watkins, Brett Messer, Anthony Custer, Shawn Sprague, Mason Watkins, Austin Reynolds, Skylar Sprague, Jayden Cartagena, Katlyn Cartagena, Shayla Sprague and Dalaney Reynolds; six great-great-grandchildren: Jeremy James, Jr., Josiah Parsons, Devin Messer, Adrianna Moser, K.C. Moser, Jr. and Walter Brown, IV.
She was preceded in death by the following siblings: Carl (Maxine) Johnson, Marie (Guy) Kirk, Helen (Jock) Roeder, Evalyn (Thomas) Brown and Jacquelyn (Dennis) Hill.
Services will begin at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, March 24, 2015, in Siferd-Orians Funeral Home. Visitation will be on Monday, from 5-8 p.m., in the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Eagles 370 Auxiliary Benefit Fund or Cairo Fire Department
