Ernie was a great body man when it came to cars.   Also a great mechanic with cars.   He always had time to talk with me when we would visit my aunt and uncle in Lima, Ohio.    May you be in Heaven singing with the angels.   I have a verse I would like to share that may bring the family comfort. 
 Psalm 91; 1: He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty. 2: I will say of the LORD, "He is my refuge and my fortress.

I am one of Ernie's cousins on the Ross side.  I did not know Ernie very well. But the times I have been around him, he was very nice.  My memories are of the stories (happenings) that were told to me by my mother (Ernie's mom's sister/aunt).  The biggest one was of his being saved by my Grandpa Ross, after a gas water heater explosion and Ernie was upstairs in the house.  Grandpa, despite having internal injuries, etc. was able to bring Ernie to safety.  I am a mother and grandmother now and the enormity of him being saved was huge!!!   I would like to extend my sympathy and prayers of comfort to Barb and sons, Patty and her family.  Take care and keep the memories close to your heart and minds.   Kathy Koch

Ernie was a quiet gentle man all the times I remember him. His love for his parents was something that I always have had such respect for him. I had a little green pinto as my first car and he painted it for me and I felt proud of my little car because of him.  His love for family shows through his children. His son Ernie was our ring barrier in our wedding . I finally got to see the video Uncle Storm took of our wedding on our 40th anniversary. Boy did we all look so young Ernie included. Our love and prayers go out to his family and friends. Love you all Russ and Paula Hodge

Uncle Ernie was always full of spunk and humor and had such a kind heart.  I remember when I was a little girl he used to make me giggle uncontrollably even if it meant I demanded he did the same thing over and over...dog jaw for those who remember :)  He was always the very best brother to my mom, Patti, and we so looked forward to his and Aunt Barbara's visits.  I'm sad that he's gone but know how much he touched the lives of those around him...especially his grandchildren who I know will miss him very much.  He was such a genuine person who would've done anything to help those he loved.  Love you, Uncle Ernie.

I remember when Ernie, Uncle Aubrey and Aunt Shirley, and his sister Pat would come to Maine on summer vacation. We had great times at the lake, roasting hotdogs and marshmallows over a campfire, and fishing. In fact, it was Ernie who taught me to tie a fisherman's knot and I still use it today. I also remember one of our favorite things to do as a kid was to play in junk cars. I can even remember the smell of the cars now...fun times.

My mom was so lucky to have such a great big bro, thanks for always taking care of her....and putting up with her.  Uncle Ernie was such a genuine, caring, car loving man.  Thanks for making all of our lives better. You are missed. Say hi to Grammy and Poppy for me.

Ernie was my big brother and was truly bigger than life.  He always brought a room alive when he walked in.  He made me believe in Santa much longer than I should have because he always protected me to make me happy.  He had some convincing stories that only he could pull off.  His wit and common sense were a breath of fresh air.  Best of all, he had a love for family and life.  He was content with what he had and never was tainted with the love for money.  Truly a great guy that will be missed by so many that he made smile. I love you and will miss you dearly, Ernie.  Until we meet again, may the Lord Bless you with His love! I always remember Ernie’s family as a child... It was my favorite time of the summer when Uncle Aubrey,  Aunt Shirley Patti and Ernie would come to Maine from Lima Ohio for a couple weeks ... we had so much fun fishing and exploring the woods behind Grammas house.... at the lake cooking on the grill ....and swimming in the lake...one time that I always cherish was the canoe trip Ernie his dad my brother and I took up dead stream .... He was so much fun to be around..... I visited Lima several times in my adult years, to visit him and the family and there was always something to do....but not enough visits in the later years.... the last time I visited in the late Ninetys .... Uncle Aubrey was still alive then an I had trouble with the brakes on my motor home and Ernie helped me repair them.... we were friends on Facebook and occcasionally chatted.  I’ve gotten a chance to know his sons on FB .... We never know when our final day is coming so we should cherish every memory....Ernie touched my life with great memories that will always be in my heart and mind .... Rest peacefully with your Mom and Dad “CUZ” you will be missed....

We were so looking forward to our annual visit this week.  There was never a dull moment when in Ernie's presence.  He was a great guy to know and will be so missed.
