Helen Louise Cotner, 98, of Maumee, formerly of Lima, passed away Sunday, December 16, 2018 at Addison Heights Health and Rehab Center in Maumee. Mrs. Cotner was born on April 12, 1920 in Auglaize County, Ohio to James Robert and Cornelia (Haas) Crist and they precede her in death. On June 1, 1943, she married Dwight K. Cotner and he passed away July 6, 1962.
She is survived by her son, Jim (Kathy) Cotner of Whitehouse, Ohio; her grandchildren Jim (Bethany) Cotner, Jr of Whitehouse, Michelle (Nick) Osting of Toledo; her great grandchildren, Henry Cotner and Hattie Osting. She is also survived by a daughter-in-law, Dixie Cotner of Lima and two adoptive granddaughters, Wendy and Chris.
Helen had been employed at Sears serving as the manager of the catalog department. She retired in 1985 after 25 years of service. She was an active member of the Shawnee United Methodist Church; she was a member of the church literary club, the “Hawthorn Club”, the chair circle, the adult ministry, Triple O “On your own” and had volunteered in the church office. She was also a member of the Sears Retiree Club.
She was preceded in death by her spouse, a son, Donald Cotner, two sisters, Marguerite Shenk and Florence Albright, two brothers, James Crist and Carl Crist and her stepmother, Opal Crist.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:30 p.m., Thursday, December 20, 2018 at SIFERD-ORIANS FUNERAL HOME with Rev. Bryan Bucher, officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery.
Friends and family may call on Thursday, December 20 from 12 Noon until 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
