

Lawrence Bernard Kaple, age 82, formerly of Delphos and Ottawa, died at 7:50 a.m., Tuesday, Dec. 18, 2018 at The Meadows of Ottawa. He was born Sept. 2, 1936, in Ottawa, the son of John E. and Louise A. (Kuhlman) Kaple who are both deceased.
Surviving are his sons, Stephen (Sandy) Kaple of Palmetto, FL and Jeffrey Kaple, and their mother Rose Kaple, of both Ottawa; and longtime friend, Darlene Martin. The following nieces and nephews also survive him: Jerry (Tammy) Giesige of London, KY, Cindy (Steve) Kuhlman and Patty (Mike) Jerwers both of Ottawa, Joanie (Pat) Langhals of Glandorf, Deb (Miguel Centeno) Kaple of Princeton, NJ, Kim (Rick) Stuck of Wickliffe, OH, Dawn (Paul) Bayless and Addie Kaple of Columbus, and Julia (Bob) Hare of Lima
He is preceded in death by a granddaughter, Candace Rose; and two siblings, Jack Kaple and Jean Ann Giesige.
Larry was an active member of V.F.W. Post 9142 and American Legion Post 63, both of Ottawa. He was honorably discharged from the U.S. Navy and a former member of the Ottawa Fire Department. He was an avid Buckeye and Browns fan.
He retired from Philips and worked in marketing, but his real passion was bowling, where he garnered numerous trophies, patches and a collection of belt buckles.
Per his request, he will be cremated and his remains will be interred at the Dayton V.A. Cemetery at a later date.
