

Mario John Cardone was born in Lima, Ohio to Joseph and Assunta (Tollis) Cardone on July 22, 1919. He went to high school at Lima Senior High School and graduated in 1937. He went on to earn a bachelor’s degree in Chemistry from Ohio Northern University in 1941. On January 29, 1945, he married Mona Conley. He earned over 57 graduate credits from Ohio State and Wayne State Universities. Over 45 years of industrial experience he worked with nine companies and one research institute. During his nine years with Thiokol Chemical Corp. as the Analytical Research Department Supervisor, he compiled and published a definitive chapter covering the analytical practices in the specialty field of polysulfide polymers. From 1946 he studied the effect of systematic error on analytical methodology that resulted in the development of the Corrigible Error Correction Technique that was reported in seven papers. He retired in 1986 after 18 years of service as the Analytical Development Unit Leader & Section Chief for P&G/Norwich Eaton Pharmaceuticals, Inc.
He has resided in Albany, Georgia since 2012 and was a member of St. Teresa’s Catholic Church.
Mario John Cardone is preceded in death by his wife, Mona Conley Cardone; his brothers Louis Cardone, Tobias Cardone, and Joseph Cardone.
Mario John Cardone is survived by his sister, Edith Roney of Lima, Ohio; Children: Patricia Cardone Jones, Camp Hill, PA; Mario John Cardone, II (Valarie) Kihei, HI; Susan Suter (David) Rochester Hills, MI; Deborah Harris (Larry) Albany, GA; Katherine Scott (Thomas) Delaware, OH. Grandchildren: Rodney Jones, Lynnette Jones (Jan Fisher), Michael Cardone, Terry Cardone, John Paul Peters, Matthew Peters (Caitlin), Jared Suter, Sarah Scott, Joseph Scott. Great Grandchildren: Kristopher Jones, Jasmine Jones, Jannette Fisher, Gavin Peters, and Liam Peters. Further survived by nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held at Siferd-Orians Funeral Home, Lima, Ohio on Sunday, September 17, 2017 from 3:00 until 5:00 p.m..
A mass of Christian burial on Monday, September 18 at 10:00 a.m. will be held at St. John’s Catholic Church, Lima, Ohio with Fr. Jim Black and/or Fr. David Schalk officiating. Burial/Interment will follow at Gethsemani Cemetery, Lima, Ohio. Siferd-Orians Funeral Home, Lima Ohio is handling the funeral arrangements.
