

Michael William Smith, 46, of Lima died on Tuesday, April 4, 2017, at Lima Memorial Hospital. He was born on October 25, 1970 in Lima to Kenyon K. and Shirlee E. (Armentrout) Smith who preceded him in death.
He is survived by one brother, Kenyon K. Smith, of Lima; one aunt, Charlotte (Tom) Roberts, of Perrysburg; and his best friend, Charles Ayers, of Lima. He is also survived by many cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Brent A. Smith, and three aunts: Evelyn “Midge” Armentrout, June Roberts, and Helen Laibe.
Michael was fun and full of life, a blessing to those who knew him. People enjoyed being with him for many reasons but largely because he possessed the increasingly rare virtues of graciousness and politeness. He showed great courage in his battle against illness during the last nine months. Michael was athletic as a young man and was a lifelong fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers, the Pittsburgh Pirates, and the Cincinnati Reds. He also liked to cook and to solve crossword puzzles.
Michael attended Trinity United Methodist Church in Lima. A memorial service will be held in Trinity’s chapel for family and friends on Sunday, April 23 at 3:00 pm. A private burial will be held at Woodlawn Cemetery in Lima. Arrangements are being made by Siferd-Orians Funeral Home.
