Roger Lee Jones, Sr., 78, of Delphos, passed away Wednesday, March 14, 2018 at 12:15 a.m. in the emergency room at Mercy St. Rita’s Medical Center. He was born on September 2, 1939 in Lima to William Benjamin and Evelyn Fern (Archer) Jones and they both preceded him in death. On May 31, 1964 Roger married Linda K. Haver and she passed away on June 6, 2007.
He is survived by three sons, Benjamin (Tina Grubb) Jones, Sherman (Patricia Ellis) Jones and Jonathan (Laurie) Jones all of Delphos. He also is survived by an adopted son, Donald (Robin) Tomasi of Ada, ten grandchildren, three great grandchildren and a sister, Barbara Kimmel of Delphos. He was predeceased by his siblings, Dolores Jones, Daniel Jones, William E. Jones, Esther Trusty and by a son, Roger Lee Jones, Jr.
Roger had been employed and retired as a Psychiatric Attendant for Oakwood Correctional Facility for over 10 years. He retired after 22 years of military service with the Navy, Army and National Guard Reserves. He was a member of the Delphos VFW Post # 3035; the American Legion Post 268; he started the Roger’s Rangers in Delphos and was a member of the Delphos Veteran’s Council.
Funeral services will be held Monday, March 19 at 10:00 a.m. at Siferd-Orians Funeral Home, where there will be Military rites conducted by the Delphos Veterans Council. Burial to follow in Cairo West Cemetery
Family and friends may call Sunday, March 18, 2018 from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. at Siferd-Orians Funeral Home 506 N. Cable Rd. Lima, Ohio.
