Sharon Kay (Spees) Gladfelter, 73 of Elida, died Monday October 8, 2012 at her residence. She was born September 6, 1939 in Lima to James Frederick and Margaret Bernice (Hullinger) Spees who preceded her in death.
Mrs. Gladfelter was a 1957 graduate of Elida High School where she made many of her favorite memories and lifelong friends. On December 24, 1973 she married Larry Lee Gladfelter who survives her in Elida.
Sharon is survived by her son, Dr. Curtis Dean Holmes of Denver, Colorado and a brother Gary (Barb) Spees of Marysville, Ohio. She is also survived by two nieces, Tammy McDonald and Michelle (Wes) Osterhout. She was preceded in death by a stepson, Robert Lee Gladfelter.
Mrs. Gladfelter was employed for 18 years at Sheller Globe as a data processer until it closed. She then briefly tried real estate before deciding to be a full time homemaker which she enjoyed very much. Her friendly outgoing yet feisty style made her well liked and a friend of many. She enjoyed working in the yard and decorating around the house with minimal expense, as she was always a bargain hunter. She was always passionately collecting something from Barbie dolls to coins. She was very loved by her family and always found the time to help others especially elder friends and family with whatever they might need.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 13, 2012 at 11 a.m. with Rev. James Neighbors, officiating at Siferd-Orians Funeral Home. Friends may call at the funeral home from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 11:00 a.m. Saturday.
