Shirley Rae Roop

Shirley was born on March 4, 1929 in Lima to Helen Dearbaugh and Russell Darnell, who preceded her in death. On July 16, 1953 she married Robert P. Roop who preceded her in death April 8, 1988.

Shirley was a 1946 graduate of Central High School in Lima, Ohio. She had formerly worked at Westinghouse. She then was employed as the bookkeeper at the Sealts Wholesale Grocery and retired in 1992 after over 30 years of service. She was a past member of Peace Lutheran Church and more recently had attended Southside Christian Church. She was an avid bowler for over 40 years and was a member of the Friday Night Mainliner League at 20th Century and the Girls All Star League at Westgate Lanes.

She is survived by a daughter, Rayleen (Brad) Arthur, two grandchildren, Trevor (Tara) Arthur and Bailey Arthur of Lima and two great grandchildren, Braysen Arthur and Krue Arthur. She is also survived by her close friends, Joyce and Larry Arthur of Lima.

She was preceded in death by her stepfather, Ray V. Parent.

Funeral services will begin at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, September 13, 2015 at SIFERD-ORIANS FUNERAL HOME with Rev. Wanda Werking, officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday, Sept 13, 2015 from 2-6:00 p.m. in the funeral home.

We would like to thanks the many caregivers who have helped Shirley over the last years – from the staff at Burton’s Ridge Assisted Living, the staff of Lima Convalescent Home and finally the last week of her life the wonderful staff at the ICU, the nurses on 5K and the Hospice Nurses with St. Rita’s Medical Center.
