

Jean was born in Kenton, on August 14, 1926, to Roy & Emma (Brown) Johnson, who both preceded her in death. In June of 1948 she married John A. “Jack” DeVita, who preceded her in death on September 20, 2003. Jean was a talented artist, an incredible cook, a great seamstress, she was an avid football fan, and rooted for Notre Dame and Ohio State, and had a green thumb. She and her husband enjoyed happy hour together “it’s five o’clock somewhere.” Jean will be remembered by her family as a woman with a big heart and always put her family first. She will be dearly missed.
She is survived by her nine children; Conni (Jerry) Arnold, of Tinley Park, IL, John A. (Jeanne) DeVita, of Littleton, CO, David (Betty Jane) DeVita , of Lakeside Park KY, Rosalind (Dennis) Morrison, of Beavercreek, OH, Robert “Kim” (Linda Nichols) DeVita, of Lima, Gregg (Maria) DeVita, of Cincinnati, Ann (Mark) Westmeyer, of Mason, Jean “Pepper” (Tom ) Schultz, of Carmel, IN, and Martin (Lisa) DeVita, of Columbus, twenty grandchildren, Lisa (Nate) Quintanar, Marisa Morrison, Rebecca (Cody) Bracken, Peter DeVita, David A. DeVita, Francie DeVita, Natasha DeVita, Crystal DeVita, John DeVita, Michael DeVita, Julia DeVita, Allison Westmeyer, Meredith Westmeyer, Matthew Westmeyer, Joseph Schultz, Kyle Schultz, Caroline Schultz, Jack DeVita, Lucy DeVita, Marty DeVita, two great grandchildren, Harper and Ty , and one brother Myron “Bud” Johnson.
She was preceded in death by her siblings, Esther Long, Helen Gossard, and Delbert Johnson.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday December 14, 2015 at 11 AM at St. Gerard’s Catholic Church, with Father Jim Szobonya officiating. Burial will follow at Gethsemani Cemetery. Visitation will be held at Siferd-Orians Funeral Home on Sunday December 13, 2015 from 2-6 PM with a prayer service beginning at 6 P.M.
