Thomas Byron Albertson, 59 of Lima passed away 9:45 p.m. Monday, May 14, 2012 after a long illness at his residence in Lima. He was born on December 19, 1952 in Lima to John D. & Martha Jane (Dodds) Albertson, they survive in Lima. He married Debra Kay Clark on Oct 16, 1971 and she survives him.
He is also survived by his children, Jonathan C. (Heather) Albertson, Jennifer L. (Michael) Rope and Julie R. (Matt) Klaus, his grandchildren, Hayden, Channing, Ella, Bree, Victoria, George, Richard, Elizabeth, Jacob, Meghan, Maggie, Jackson, Ashton, Brock and Colby all of Lima, a sister, Anne (Larry)Wenger of Coldwater, Michigan and many nieces and nephews.
Mr. Albertson received his BA from Indiana University, his Masters Degree in Counseling Psychology and doctoral training at the Alfred Adler School of Professional Psychology in Chicago, Illinois. Before retiring, he was employed at Oakwood Forensic Center, Putnam County Mental Health, The Relationship Clinic, Charter Beacon Hospital in Ft. Wayne, Indiana, Lima Technical College as adjunct faculty where he received the Distinguished Teacher of the Year in 1988-89. He was a member of St. Charles Catholic Church in Lima where he served as a Eucharistic Minister.
He was predeceased by his maternal grandparents, Albert C. & Mable Dodds and his paternal grandparents, Rev. Aden Byron and Lola Albertson.
Mass of Christian burial will be conducted 10:00 a.m., Friday, May 18, 2012 at St. Charles Catholic Church with Father Steve Blum as celebrant. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery.
Friends and family may call Thursday, May 17 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at Siferd-Orians Funeral Home, Lima, Ohio. Lima Life Teens will be holding the Wake Service at 8 p.m. on Thursday evening at the funeral home.
