

Wanda M. Siferd, 84 of Lima, passed away 4:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 27, 2013 at Lima Memorial Health Systems. She was born July 21, 1928 in Lima to Carl D. & Gladys G. (McWhorter) French who preceded her in death. She is survived by her husband, Charles D. Siferd, whom she married September 26, 1948 almost 65 years ago. They were high school sweethearts.
She is survived by her children, Daniel C. Siferd of Lima, Wm. Dean (May) Siferd of Houston, Texas, Beth E. (Jon) Salzwedel of Westerville, Ohio. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Aaron M. (Christa) Siferd of Lima, David J. Siferd of Marysville, two great grandchildren, Camden M and Addison R. Siferd also of Lima; two sisters-in-law Anita Newman of Lima and Shirley (Roger) Larson of Grand Rapids, Michigan; her brother’s daughter: Ruth (William ) Houser of Grove City, Ohio, four cousins, William Warren Foster of Athens, George (Pauline) Stout of Albany, Ohio; Frances (Oscar) Marlett and James Wm. McWhorter both of Lima; and many nieces and nephews on her husband’s side of the family.
She was a 1946 graduate of Lima South High School, and attended Ohio University in Athens. She had worked in the insurance offices of The Lima Locomotive Works and the soil lab of the Petrochemical Co., and also assisted her husband in the funeral service. She was a member of Southside Christian Church and the “The Young at Heart” class of the church. She was a member of the Lotus Club and her High School Ladies Group she had been a former member of the LaSertoma Club. She met regularly with many cherished friends. Was a fair-minded, gentle person who will be missed in many ways. She was a naturally good listener. She loved her family and enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by brother, William C. (Eleanor) French, sister-in-law, Patsy Lou Siferd Spidel and brother-in-law, Bill E. Newman.
Funeral Services will be conducted , 2:00 p.m. Monday, March 4, 2013 at Southside Christian Church with the Rev. Douglas E. Adams, officiating. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery.
Family and friends may call 2-6 p.m. Sunday, March 3, 2013 at Siferd-Orians Funeral Home and 1 hour prior to the service on Monday at the church.
