Cruz Vasquez Diaz

Cruz Vásquez Díaz, of Lincoln, California, passed away on November 26, 2019 surrounded by family.

He was born to parents Octaviano and María Nicolasa Díaz on September 14, 1944 in Presidios de Arriba, Tepehanuanes, Durango, México. He completed 6th grade in México. He came to the United States in search for a better life. He worked at the local clay factory, Gladding McBean for 24 years. He appeared in the California’s Gold show with Huell Howser that highlighted Gladding McBean’s Terra Cotta. He left his mark on the architecture of many buildings made with terra cotta.

He married Elisa Pereda Díaz in 1968, who survives him. He is also survived by his five children Rebeca, René and wife GailAnn, Marycruz, Daniel, and David and his three grandchildren Eliana, Christian, and Samuel. He was predeceased by his parents and eight siblings.

Cruz was a gentle and kind man, known for having a warm smile on his face. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends, listening to music, and singing.

The funeral service will be held Friday, December 6, 2019 at 10:30am at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Lincoln, reception to follow.
