

Son of Joseph Sr & Mary Mendoza, Brother of Ronald and Sister of Lorraine. Joseph was a Loving Husband of 52 years to Vera Mendoza until her passing in 2005 and then a Loving Husband of 19 years to Marsha Mendoza.
He was a wonderful Father to Jimmy, Cynthia, Ronald, John, & Kimberly, Father-in-law to Clifford, Raymond, Patricia and Danelle, Step Father to Mark, and a father to Michael, Grandfather to Jimmy, Elizabeth, Jason, Brian, Wendy, Jennifer, Daniel S., Norma, John, Sabrina, Richard, Joshua, Kameron, Sandi, Caren, Jesse, Daniel, Don, Brittany & Raymond, Selene, Great-Grandfather of 43 grandchildren, Great-Great Grandfather of 16 Grandchildren, Uncle of Aurelio, Mike, Thomas, Teresa, and Joseph.
Before retiring, Joe was a long time member of the I.L.W.U International Longshoreman Union, Warehouseman Union Local 17 for 28.5 years. He was an avid supporter for Unions and Fair Labor laws. Including being the Vice President of the Local 17 Retiree Club. There, are many of his own family members sons, nephews, son-in-laws and grandchildren who followed in his footsteps. It’s also, where he met many of his longtime friends in which he was able to visit during his monthly retiree meetings. This is where he met some of his Best of friends of over 50+ years Ralph, Keith, Willie, Clarence, and so many more.
Joe had many interests and hobbies, he was very talented and enjoyed making hardwood crafts, unique jewelry for his family, one of his greatest passions was hunting. He taught many of his kids, grandkids, nephews and his daughter-in-law many of his sportsman skills. He enjoyed his days out fishing and relaxing on his boat with his love of his life, Vera. He loved when the family would all join him for a camping trip and fish on the bank all together. His daughter Kimberly loved being by his side hunting and fishing. Joe taught her how to hunt, fish, clean fish and so much more. He often took his family to the ocean and enjoyed watching his family and his sons learn to dive for abalone. He taught them how to crab and dig for clams.
During his 19 years with Marsha he was able to go on several wonderful cruises to Alaska where he went zip-lining and many trips to Hawaii. They traveled to the Grand Canyon, Nashville, they even went dog sledding in the snow and on a hot air balloon ride. Joe enjoyed a night out on the town singing karaoke with his wife Marsha and their family and friends. One of the most important things to him in life was spending time with his family. His family, children, and grandchildren brought much joy to his life.
