We lost the Matriarch of the Green Family last week. Gram fought a tough battle against the impact that Father Time had on her body and went to be with the Lord and reunited with her beloved Gene, aka Bompa on June 30th. She passed away peacefully just 2 weeks shy of her 86th birthday.
Fifteen years ago when we moved to our current property we had the extra space, so Gram and Bompa came with us. There was always family around, so my boys grew up having a special relationship with their Grandparents. When they got off the school bus each day, they were greeted with homemade cookies or a cool popsicle. As a working mom it gave me such peace and comfort knowing that there was always someone home. Gram was a wonderful mother in law and I will truly miss our deep talks and fireside cocktail chats.
Gram was happy living very simply. She loved her family fiercely and worried everyday about our well being. Second to us (I think) she loved her cats!! She even turned our outside semi feral cats into lazy lounge lizards that barely can get out of their beds. Even our beloved family dog decided to move over to her little house because the accommodations were like an animal’s Ritz Carlton. She was a fanatic about having a clean house and you would often find her in her wheelchair with one hand on her swifter and one hand moving the wheel on her chair. Everyday, Gram and her sister Aunt Marg FaceTimed on their iPads and had happy hour together. They loved their time together and seemed to never run out of topics to discuss. She had a daily phone call with her best friend Linda too. Linda had been her friend for more than 50 years and was there until the very end with her. That’s true friendship. Her daughter Terri, took care of her at home and was also by her side until she took her last breath.
Gram made the best fried chicken I’ve ever had, loved drinking boxed wine, playing cards and just about any game someone suggested. Truly, she just loved our being together. I will hold on to the memories of the fun times we had when we were all together and played cards with her. Towards the end of her life, she surprised us all with her grit and strength by doing tough physical therapy to try to stay with us longer. She was just plain tough! We will miss her dearly, but we are comforted to know that she is in the arms of our Savior, Jesus Christ.
Rest in peace Kathleen Adams. We love you with all of our hearts. We toast a glass of boxed wine to you and know that we now have a beautiful guardian angel watching over us.
A Celebration of Life will be taking place at the Green Ranch, September 6, 2025 at 2pm.
