Ken was born on November 4, 1940 to Ernie and Bessie Peal Wurth in the city of Sacramento. After Ken turned 18, he left home and joined the Coast Guard where he was stationed on a lighthouse in Portland, Maine.
In 1959 he met Fran and married shortly after. Ken and Fran Wurth went on to have 2 daughters, Karen and Sandy.
After Honorable Discharge from his service in the Coast Guard, he and Fran moved back home to Orangevale where he took many miscellaneous jobs – from door to door vacuum cleaner sales to driving truck. Ken was a hard worker and a fierce provider for his family. He enjoyed many years as a 4H leader.
Ken had a deep love for his granddaughters, Crystal and Joren who he spent a lot of time with – teaching them to ride and care for animals. Ken spent many years as a “horseshow dad”, hauling his girls and their horses (cows, pigs, sheep…you name it) to all the local shows.
Ken retired in 2005 after 40 years in the trucking industry. During his time with Willig Freight Lines, he was awarded for his 35 years accident free. While retired, Ken had time to pursue his lifelong love of showing horses.
Ken was predeceased by parents Ernie and Bessie Peal Wurth, (first wife) Fran Wurth, and (second wife) Dottie Wurth. He is survived by (Daughters) Karen Tokash, Sandy Baker, (Granddaughters) Joren (Zeb Engstrom, Montana), Crystal (Casey Courtright, California), (Grandson) Cole Baker, (Great Grandchildren) Micah Courtright, Caleb Courtright, Chloe Courtright, and Harlo Jo Engstrom (Montana). Services will be not be held at this time due to COVID. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Mount Pleasant 4H Club of Lincoln in Ken’s honor.
