Travis was a resident of Lincoln, California.
Travis joined the Hayward Fire Department in February 2018 and served the Hayward community for more than eight years. During his career with HFD, Travis served in several assignments, including Engine 2, Squad 2, Engine 4 and Engine 3.
As a Firefighter Paramedic, he responded to countless emergency calls and was a valued member of the Hayward Fire Department and Hayward Firefighters 1909.
Prior to and during early years of his fire-service career, Travis served in the United States Air Force as an Air Force Pararescueman from 2011 to 2020. During his military service, he was awarded the Air Medal, Air Force Meritorious Unit Award and several other military honors and decorations.
His service as an Air Force Pararescueman reflected the same commitment to helping others that he brought to the Hayward Fire Department and shared with the Hayward community.
Travis died by suicide after struggling for years with post-traumatic stress related to his Air Force and HFD service. His loss is being felt deeply by his wife, children, family, friends, coworkers, fellow veterans and the entire Hayward Fire Department family.
Travis leaves behind his wife, Jenifer, and their son, John, 8, and daughter, Scarlett, 5. He also is survived by his mother, Kathy, his father, John and his sister, Jaclyn.
A Funeral Service will be held at Alameda County Fairgrounds, Amphitheater, 2005 Valley Ave Gate 8, Pleasanton, CA 94566, on October 5, 2026, at 11:00 am.
