
Vernon Cleve Janway, a longtime resident of Sheridan, CA, unexpectedly passed away at his home the morning of January 20, 2021 of natural causes. Vernon was born on October 27, 1935 in Eufaula, Oklahoma. He was 85.
In December 1946, Vernon and his family moved from Antlers, Oklahoma to Sheridan, California. He lived and raised his family in Sheridan, CA his whole life.
Vernon graduated from Wheatland High School in 1953. He joined the US Air National Guard in 1958 and served for six years. He was married to Letona Evelyn Weeks on May 5, 1958. He went on to work for the US Airforce in the civil service as an Avionics Specialist for 35 years.
During his free time, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, gardening, woodworking and puzzles.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 62 years, Letona Janway, his son Van (Martie) Janway, his three daughters Patricia (David) Weers, Diane Hayes, Sonya (David) Hill, 12 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, 4 great-great-grandchildren, brother David (Donna) Janway of Lincoln CA, sisters Eudene Bragg of Fairhope, AL, Maxine (Jimmie) Hern of Sheridan, CA, Barbara Spencer and Joyce (Tom) Kline of Florence, AZ.
He is preceded in death by his parents Ida and Clarence Janway, sister Margaret Salmons, and brothers Ross Janway, Ricky Janway and James Janway.
Services for Vernon will be held, Friday, February 5th, 2021 at Lincoln Funeral Home, located at 406 H Street, Lincoln, CA 95648. Viewing will begin at 10 am and the service will begin at 11 am, and be followed by the burial at the Sheridan Cemetery, located on Ranch House Road in Sheridan, CA.
