Warren William Skinner

Born on August 27, 1936, in Twin Falls, Idaho, Warren was the son of Warren Prescott and Betty Maxine (Anderson) Skinner. He grew up in Twin Falls, where he was baptized at Immanuel Lutheran Church in 1947 and proudly graduated as a Bruin from Twin Falls High School.

On June 30, 1954, he married his beloved wife, Sharon Cloann Pooler (1937–2021), in their hometown of Twin Falls. Together, they built a life centered on faith and family, moving their young family from Idaho to Auburn, California, in 1972. Warren and Sharon shared a lifetime of devotion before her passing in 2021.

Father Bill's spiritual journey truly began in 1958 when he was confirmed at Trinity Episcopal Church in Dragerton, Utah. This marked the beginning of a lifelong vocation of service to the Anglican Episcopal Church, which spanned decades across both Idaho and California. After holding various positions within the parish, he followed his calling to be ordained. Father Bill was instrumental in the founding of St. Peter’s Anglican Church in Auburn, California, where he tended to his congregation with steadfast dedication, kindness, and the true spirit of a faithful minister until his retirement in 2016.

Beyond his spiritual calling, Bill was a man of remarkable practical skill. He spent much of his career working as a journeyman welder in the Sacramento area, but his craftsmanship extended far beyond his job. He loved to work with his hands and was always engaged in a project—whether it was constructing his family home in Newcastle, California, handling repairs around the church, or lending his tools and talents to a family member or parishioner in need.

Father Bill was an affectionate and loving patriarch. He is survived by his three children, Dawn Everhart, Richard Skinner, and JoAnn Kight, as well as his four grandchildren and his great-grandchildren, all of whom will deeply miss his warm spirit and kind nature.

St Peter’s Anglican Church of Auburn will hold a memorial service. His family will honor his memory and return him to his roots with a private graveside service at his interment in Twin Falls, Idaho.
