We lost our beloved Husband, Father, Grandfather, Alan Lyman. He earned his wings on November 21st at 11:20 pm. He was born at home in Havelock, Nebraska on January 8, 1936, to Elizabeth (Sievers) and Harry Lyman.
He is survived by his loving wife Charlene ("Susie" Blake) and his four children Alan II (Beverly), Ward, Dennis (Sharon) and Michelle (Doug Hawco), 11 grandchildren and their spouses, 15 great grandchildren and 1 great great granddaughter. He was the last surviving of 5 siblings, Frances (Maxine), Dick (Rosie), Glenn (Vera) and Jean (Bill Clem).
Al spent the summers of his youth in Montana, volunteering as a forest firefighter. He was in the Marine Corp from 1954 to 1956. He worked for Burlington Northern from 1956 to 1984.
He met Susie in 1957. He stopped at the Patio to get coffee on his way to work and when she delivered it to his car, the coffee spilled on his lap. They had 67 wonderful years together, going on many vacations, some on their Goldwing motorcycle.
After he retired from Burlington, he spent time developing his wood and metal working skills. He was an exceptional craftsman.
He was a lifelong learner. Not knowing how to do something never stopped him from figuring it out. He instilled this in all of his children, inspiring all of them to be creative and hobbyists.
In his retirement, he drove for Uber, which he enjoyed greatly. He also drove for the Auto Auction.
Celebration of Life will be January 17, 2026, noon to 2:00 pm at the Isles Reception Hall in Havelock.
He knows the answer to The Big Question now.
