Ed was born on August 15th, 1939, to Tom and Elizabeth (Mandery) Parrish in Graf, NE. He was baptized and confirmed in Tecumseh at St. John’s Lutheran Church. He went to grade school in Tecumseh before moving to Cortland. After lettering four years in sports, being crowned homecoming king, and being active in performing arts, he graduated from Cortland High School in 1958. He went on to join the Army National Guard where he spent 7 ½ years between Fort Carson CO and Fort Leonard Wood MO, and then followed his trade and became an avid iron worker working across the country. He found a love for traveling, especially to his favorite place which was Missoula, Montana. During this time, he had children who he loved and adored. He will be reunited with his daughter Peggy and son Theodore (Teddy) Parrish. He will be greatly missed by Jeff, Dawn, and Collins.
Albert Edward ”Ed” Parrish was one of the kindest souls on this planet, he was a gentle, giving man who worked tirelessly to ensure that his family had everything they needed. He faced every challenge in life with admirable strength and courage. Early in life, Ed learned the importance of hard work and he instilled that same work ethic in his family. He was a man of strong faith as a Lutheran and he taught us the importance of family and doing what is right. He was a Husker fan through and through. He loved to play cards, pitch, spades, and pinochle, he was great at woodworking, making many things for his family, and collected frog figurines.
Ed is survived by, his children: Collins Parrish (wife Cari) of Gilbert AZ, Dawn Sutton (husband Brad) of New Haven, IN, Jeffery Parrish of Lincoln, NE, Grandchildren: Jack, Ava, Cori, and Christopher, Great Grandchildren: Madison, Mackenzie, and Evelyn, Sisters: Helen Griffin of Lincoln, NE, Hazel Percival of Wilber, NE, Brother: Harland Parrish of Lincoln, NE, numerous nieces, nephews, and countless friends.
Ed was preceded in death by his Parents, Tom and Elizabeth, Daughter Peggy and Son Teddy, Brothers Leroy, and Eldon.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, December 18, 2023 at 10:00 am at Lincoln Memorial Funeral Home, 6800 South 14th Street, Lincoln, NE 68512. Visitation with family greeting friends on Sunday, December 17, 2023 from 4pm to 6pm. The family requests wearing casual Husker Gear to the funeral. lincolnfh.com
