Allen R Edison

Dr. Allen R. Edison, 90 of Lincoln went to be with his heavenly father on January 24, 2017. He was born on September 21, 1926 in Plainview, Nebraska. Son of Arthur and Lela (Johnson) Edison. He graduated from Plainview High School and served in the United States Naval Reserve from 1944-1946. Dr. Edison was a graduate of The University of Nebraska 1950 and received his Doctor of Science in Electrical Engineering from The University of New Mexico in 1962. He went on to teach at the University of Nebraska for the next 34 years where he served as Electrical Engineering Department Chair from 1964-1970. He also received the College of Engineering Distinguished Teaching Award in 1986. Dr. Edison has two children, Kati (Lincoln, NE) and Karl (Palm Springs, CA). He retired from teaching to spend time with his only grandchild Holli who now lives in Port Charlotte, FL. He was preceded in death by Betty Edison of whom he was married to for 65 years. Most recently he was married to Mimi Mogel of Lincoln, NE. He will be missed by Mimi, Karl (son) Edison of Palm Springs, CA and Tracie Edison of Lincoln, NE, Kati (daughter) and Don Young of Lincoln, NE, Holli (granddaughter) and Ryan Fleming of Port Charlotte, FL, Kieth (brother) Edison of Omaha, NE A gathering in honor of Dr. Edison’s life will be held at 12:30 p.m. January 30, 2017, Lincoln Memorial Funeral Home, 6700 S. 14th St. Lincoln, NE In lieu of flowers, memorials in Allen’s memory may go to a charity of your choice.
