Angie was born on March 14, 1976, in Fremont, Nebraska, to Joyce and Bill Blumer. Growing up in Fremont, she formed lifelong bonds with her sisters and many friends, graduating from Fremont High School in 1994. She soon moved to Lincoln to pursue her education; a city she would call home for the rest of her life. Her academic dedication led her to earn a bachelor's degree in journalism from Southeast Community College and a master's degree in human resources from Bellevue University.
Her career reflected her drive and commitment, serving at Kidwell and Watts Electric before most recently flourishing as the Benefits Manager at Resort Lifestyle Communities.
On September 1, 2001, she married her high school sweetheart and best friend, Michael Jack Plahn, in Fremont. Their deep and abiding love was a cornerstone of her life, evident to all who knew them. Angie found her greatest joy in her family, embracing her role as a devoted mother to Connor and Brooke with her whole heart. Her interests were a reflection of her warm and loving spirit: she enjoyed planning beach vacations, relaxing by the backyard pool with her dogs, Harley and Oakley, crafting, baking, and sharing laughter with her beloved Girls Night Crew. Fiercely supportive, her competitive nature shone through as she cheered on her children in all their activities. Guided by a steadfast Lutheran faith, she faced life with unwavering optimism, a positive outlook, and a quiet strength that cared for all around her.
Angie is survived by her devoted husband, Michael; her cherished children, Connor and Brooke Plahn, of Lincoln; her mother, Joyce Blumer of Fremont; father and mother-in-law, Tom and Esther Plahn of Fremont and Sue Abou-nasr of Mesa, AZ; siblings, Deb and Gail Griess of Sutton and Michelle Leenerts of Papillion; sisters-in-law, Kristi Gjersvold, Kim Nahorny, Karn Marez, Samiera Abou-nasr, and Kris Snyder; 15 nieces and nephews; and her beloved pets, Harley and Oakley.
She was preceded in death by her father, Bill Blumer, and father-in-law, Sam Abou-nasr.
Visitation will be held on Monday, December 15, from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at Lincoln Memorial Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, December 16, at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Lincoln.
A Life of Quiet Strength
A life shaped by drive and optimism,
always choosing to see the good
and offering a steady warmth
that made others feel cared for.
A spirit that lifted others up,
celebrating every milestone,
cheering on every season of life,
finding joy in sunlit days, beach trips,
and quiet moments of rest.
To a lifelong partner,
a love that stood as the truest form—
and to everyone who crossed that path,
a light we were lucky to know.
A journey rooted in kindness and devotion,
leaving behind a legacy of strength,
gentleness, and a warmth
that continues on in every life touched.
