

Arlene Doris Gray, a gentle and compassionate soul, passed away on October 21, 2025, at the age of 93. Born on September 23, 1932, in Omaha, Nebraska, to her loving parents Hilda and Arthur Gray, Arlene lived a life marked by kindness, honesty, and selflessness.
Arlene was an only child who pursued her education with dedication, earning a Bachelor's degree at UNL and from the University of Texas, and a Master of Science in Social Work. Her career as a social worker in Lincoln, Nebraska, was a testament to her thoughtful and loyal nature, as she tirelessly worked to improve the lives of others. Arlene has lived and worked, mostly in Child Welfare in many places including, Texas, Ohio and Illinois. Before retirement Arlene was the Chief Social Worker of the Acute Care Unit at the Lincoln Regional Center.
In her personal life, Arlene was known for her humor and love for making others laugh. Her hobbies included reading and collecting cartoons and funny sayings, which she enjoyed sharing with her community at Lake Park. An avid lover of cats and a fan of Star Trek, Arlene also delighted in the simple pleasures of life, such as indulging in her favorite food, ice cream, and shopping on QVC. She cherished visiting friends, especially her dear friend Mary.
The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the staff and caregivers at The Key, The Journey House, Old Cheney Rehab, and her Physicians office at East Lincoln Internal Medicine, and the nursing staff at Nebraska Nursing Consultants for their exceptional care and support. A very special thank you to her friend and caregiver, Lisa McCarthy.
Arlene's kind-hearted spirit and humorous nature will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
