Arnold D. Finkner, 86, of Lincoln, NE passed away on January 8, 2021. Born in Sterling, NE on January 12, 1934, to parents Milton and Edna (Fritz) Finkner. He graduated from Adams High School and spent time on the farm. He joined the Nebraska National Guard and eventually worked in Lincoln. He met his wife, Darlene Boslau, and they were married for 64 years. He worked in Sales until he retired from Bristol Myers. In earlier years, he enjoyed watching his children play sports and other activities they were involved in. Arnold also enjoyed hunting with his sons, Rick and Scott, along with his brotherin- law, Gailen, his nephew, Perry, and relatives within the Finkner family in Adams, NE. He had a passion for rebuilding cars in his spare time. Upon his retirement, his fondest memories were moving to an acreage where he spent time tinkering with his machinery, gardening, and mowing with his Grasshopper. He spent a lot of time volunteering and playing cards at the Moose Lodge where he was the Treasurer. Arnold and Darlene enjoyed traveling to the British Isles, Alaska, Hawaii, and other states in the US, going to Omaha to eat crab legs and playing cards with family and friends.

He looked forward to watching his grandchildren play soccer and barrel races. When his grandchildren were young, they all had great fun being pulled around by his four-wheeler in a wagon, or a sled when it snowed, and trips to Pioneers Park to walk on the trails. His grandchildren loved spending time with him riding four-wheelers, go-carts, and mini bikes, playing pool, squirrel watching, and sneaking candy and cookies from his secret stash in his desk drawer.

He is survived by his wife, Darlene (Boslau) Finkner of Sterling, NE; his children, Rick Finkner (special friend Vickie) of Kansas City, MO, Scott (Carla) Finkner of Waverly, NE, and Shari (Michael) Luft of Lincoln, NE; his grandchildren, Kara Odom of Longview, TX, Joseph Finkner of Overland Park, KS, Andrew Luft and Kristin (Armando) Lezama of Lincoln, NE, and Nicole Finkner of Bridgeport, NE; his great-grandchildren, Danielle Ferguson and Aleah Odom, Adalynne Finkner, and Elija Lezama; his sister, Dorothy Hesser; his sisters-in-law, Evelyn Balke, Sue Boslau, and Lois Finkner; his brother-in-law, Dennis (Joyce) Boslau. Preceded in death by his parents, his brother Clark Finkner, brothers-in-law Donald Hesser, Gailen Balke, Eugene Boslau, Dalen Boslau, and niece Angela Potts.

Rev. Dr. Daniel Schroeder

I remember Arnold very well when the Finkners were members of St. Andrew's. Arnold was one of the friendliest, most upbeat people I knew, and it was always fun to talk to him. We can rejoice because he is now inhabiting his mansion in heaven, at home with Jesus. May the peace, comfort, and hope he brings be with you all during this time. Rejoice because Jesus lives, you shall live also. My condolences, Pastor Dan Schroeder

If ever there was a person that was easy to talk to and listen to, it was Uncle Dean...all delivered with a smile or laugh or variation thereof. This was true as far back as I remember as a child, teenager, twenty-something and then married with kids. Whether it was hearing what he traded for, was fixing or looking to invest in, it was always entertaining to hear the presentation of the story, sometimes even more than the topic itself. At the same time he was keen to know and care about what was going on in your life. I'm sure he has blessed many lives, I know he did mine.

With Love, Perry
