She was born in Grand Forks, North Dakota to James Patrick McCoy and Belinda Jane McCoy. At the age of one, she moved with her family to Lincoln, Nebraska. At age six, they moved to Hutchinson, Kansas where she graduated from Hutchinson High School. After attaining her degree from the University of Kansas, she settled in Kansas City for the duration of her life.
Bethany’s light burned bright and fast, but extinguished too soon. She was known for her intelligence, her strength, her creativity, her fondness of writing and her fun-loving spirit. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends.
While in high school, she was an honor student, a writer for the school and town newspapers, and played for the Hutch High Girls Basketball team, one of the top in the state. She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Hutchinson, Kansas.
While at the University of Kansas, she was a member of Delta Gamma Sorority.
In her spare time she enjoyed hiking, attending KU basketball games, and being with friends and family.
She is survived by her father James McCoy, her mother Belinda McCoy and her brother Brandon McCoy.
