Bethany Lynn McCoy, 36, of Omaha, Nebraska, passed peacefully Saturday, June 27th 2020.

She was born in Grand Forks, North Dakota to James Patrick McCoy and Belinda Jane McCoy. At the age of one, she moved with her family to Lincoln, Nebraska. While in high school, she was an honor student, a writer for the school and town newspapers, and played for the Hutch High Girls Basketball team, one of the top in the state. She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Hutchinson, Kansas.

While at the University of Kansas, she was a member of Delta Gamma Sorority.

In her spare time she enjoyed hiking, attending KU basketball games, and being with friends and family. She is survived by her father James McCoy, her mother Belinda McCoy and her brother Brandon McCoy.

There will be a private funeral service livestreamed on Lincoln Memorial Funeral Home and Cemetery's Facebook page Friday, July 3, 2020, 10:00 a.m.

I worked with Bethany, and we had so much fun together! She was always smiling, always lifting people’s spirits. Such a brilliant person, I’m in shock that she’s gone this soon.

I am so very sorry to hear of Bethany passing. We went to high school and played on the basketball team together. I always remember Bethany being kind and encouraging and joyful. Her mother, Belinda, Mrs. McCoy as I will always know her, was my 3rd grade teacher.
Sending my love and thoughts of peace and healing to all of Bethany's loved ones. My deepest condolences.

I’m shocked and so sorry to hear this. I think of Bethany every year on her birthday (Cinco de Mayo, how can one forget?) and will always fondly remember how hard we used to laugh when life had so many fewer worries. Mr. and Mrs. McCoy and Brandon, you are all in my thoughts and prayers. Bethany, rest in true peace. ❤️
