Brad proudly served his country in the United States Army Reserve as a medic for six years following high school. His time in the military reflected his willingness to serve others and instilled in him a work ethic and determination that remained throughout his life.
Following his military service, Brad worked alongside his father to build Automated Systems, a banking software company that grew through decades of hard work, innovation, and dedication. Building the company was one of Brad’s greatest accomplishments, and he devoted countless hours to its success. Later, two of his children joined him in the family business, creating the opportunity to work side by side before the company was successfully sold in 2025. Sharing that chapter of life with his children brought him tremendous pride.
Above all else, Brad loved his children. He is survived by his three children, Elizabeth Nicole Perry, Mikalea Ann Perry, and Maxwell Richard Perry, who were the greatest joy of his life.
He is also survived by his sisters, Pamela Rutmanis and her husband, Sandris Rutmanis, and their daughters, Maija and Sarma; and his sister, Paula Summers, and her husband, Larry Summers, along with their children, Emily and Andy.
Brad is also lovingly remembered by his former wife and lifelong friend, Kathy Perry. Although their marriage ended, their friendship endured through the years as they remained united in their love and support of their children.
Brad had a lifelong love of the water. As a child, his happiest summers were spent at the lake with his family. One of his most told childhood memories was driving the yellow boat across Lake Okoboji in a storm. As an adult, that love continued through countless days at the lake house with family and friends and later at Table Rock Lake, where he created unforgettable memories filled with laughter, boating, and time together. His children remember those years fondly, and they remain some of their most treasured memories. Eventually, his passion for boating drew him to Florida, where he embraced life on the water, found a close-knit community of friends, and built meaningful relationships that became an important part of his life.
Brad also enjoyed the excitement of casinos and evenings spent with friends. Blackjack was by far his favorite game. Whether luck was on his side or not, those around him knew when Brad had a winning hand. It was usually followed by a hard slap on the table and an enthusiastic, unmistakable “Booyah!” That joyful celebration became one of the many little things his family and friends will always remember with a smile.
Brad was a man who believed in hard work. He poured himself into every endeavor, often spending long hours building Automated Systems and solving problems that others could not. He found purpose in creating, building, and accomplishing, and he took great pride in seeing his efforts become something lasting.
Those who knew Brad knew he was truly one of a kind. He was generous, loving, fiercely loyal, and willing to help those he cared about without hesitation. He was also independent, strong-willed, and determined to live life on his own terms. Brad was never one to simply follow the crowd. He lived by his own rules, charted his own course, and faced life with a boldness that was uniquely his.
He had a quick wit, a sharp sense of humor, and an unmistakable presence. Brad could fill a room with laughter, leave a lasting impression, and make even ordinary moments memorable. He was strong, spirited, and sometimes stubborn, but beneath it all was a man who loved deeply, cared fiercely, and never stopped believing in the people closest to him.
Brad leaves behind numerous lifelong friends whose loyalty and companionship enriched every season of his life. Whether sharing time on the lake, working long hours, gathering around a blackjack table, or simply enjoying one another’s company, those friendships became part of the legacy he leaves behind.
Brad’s life was full, adventurous, bold, and deeply meaningful. He leaves behind memories of laughter on the water, stories around the card table, lessons in perseverance, unwavering love for his family, and a reminder to live boldly and authentically.
In keeping with his lifelong love of the water, Brad made his wishes known many times throughout his life. He wanted his ashes to be scattered across Table Rock Lake, a place that brought him peace, joy, and countless unforgettable memories with those he loved. It is fitting that his final resting place will be the waters where he felt most at home.
He will be profoundly loved, deeply missed, and forever remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
“The water was where Brad felt most at peace. May those who loved him find peace in the memories they shared and comfort in knowing that his legacy lives on through the lives he touched.”
