Charles R. Ellis, 90, of Lincoln, died April 10, 2021. Born October 25, 1930, in York, NE. Married Esta Marie Spahr, May 24, 1952, the love of his life for over 68 years. Family always came first for Charlie. He was proud of his daughters and said one of his favorite things about being a father was “loving you all.” Family holidays and spending time together was something he treasured.
He loved his job, a banking career that spanned 40 years. He was an active member of Trinity United Methodist Church, enjoyed volunteering and was an avid square dancer. Charlie collected many things: stamps, coins, and any little trinket he found when out on a walk. He also collected teddy bears; his favorite being the teddy bear his Grandma Ellis made him when he was six years old. A big fan and supporter of Nebraska Cornhuskers Men's Basketball, Charlie and Esta were season ticket holders for four decades.
Survivors: Esta Marie Ellis; daughters, Kristin Riggs, Kathi Ellis (David Dell), Julie Bowar (Dave Grandelis); granddaughter, Katie Taylor (Justin); great-granddaughter, Audrey Wendler; sisters-in-law, JoAnne Thiele, Pat Ellis; nieces and nephews.
