

Charlotte M. Custer (Baker), 80 of Lincoln Ne. passed away at home Sept. 28, 2015. Charlotte was born in 1935, at home on a farm near Martinsburg, NE. In 1948 her family moved to Wakefield, Ne. Charlotte attended Wakefield High School, and attended youth camp at Covenant Cedars, which is where her relationship with Jesus began. After high school, Charlotte attended Wayne State Teacher’s College, and then continued to receive her master’s degree from UNL. She taught junior high students math for 30 years at Whittier and Goodrich, retiring in 1998. In the summer of 1955 she met Edward Custer. Ed was in the Air Force, and after a 3 year courtship via the postal service, they were married. After a sad event in their lives, the loss of their daughter, Amy Marie in 1961, their son Ted Edward was born in 1963. They were blessed with their daughter, Zoe Ellen in 1966. Soon after, the family moved to Germany where Ed was stationed. Charlotte and Ed traveled through Europe. Charlotte was active in the chapel, teaching Sunday school and Bible school. After 3 years of being stationed in Germany, Charlotte’s family moved back to the states, and finally settled in Lincoln when Ed retired from the service in 1971. Charlotte was an active member of First Covenant Church and many civic organizations. Charlotte is survived by son, Ted Custer, San Jose, Ca.; daughter, Zoe (Alan) Maier, Lincoln, Ne.; grandchildren, Faith Schell and Zion Schell, Lincoln, Ne.; brother Darrell (Cindi) Baker, Pender, Ne. Visitation will be held at Lincoln Memorial Funeral Home at 6800 S. 14th st, Lincoln, from 4pm-8pm, Wednesday Sept. 30. Services to be held at First Evangelical Church at 6024 L st., Lincoln, at 10am., Thursday Oct. 1, Burial will be at Wakefield Cemetery at 1pm, Friday Oct. 2nd.
